Sweetheart Rice Krispie Treats

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Welcome back :) As you may have noticed I updated my blog and I am so in love with it! The florals, pinks, and feminine touches, are right up my ally. And naturally, after hours of setting it up and looking at the pretty spring colors, I am even more excited for my favorite season to get here!

So keeping with the theme, today I decided to make a sweet dessert and I can't wait to share it with you all. This takes less than 10 minutes to make and it will be gobbled up just as fast. These would be a lot fun to make with your kids too. Who doesn't love Rice Krispies, frosting, and sweet little heart candies?
These Sweetheart Rice Krispies are so festive and would be the perfect treat for your Sweetheart and Valentine :) They take me back to my childhood, when I just couldn't wait for our class parties in elementary school. Everything was pink and red with hearts everywhere. The anticipation of what valentine your 'crush' would give you. Then of course all the sweet treats and candy you would get in your little handmade desktop valentines box, you knew you'd always get at least one box of heart candy...oh the good old days!

2016 Clean Home & Organizing Challenge Week 4 ~ Dining Room + Eating Area

Monday, January 25, 2016

Week 4~ This week we are going to work on the dining room and eating area! Now that the kitchen is decluttered and sparking clean, the eating areas naturally come next. We will complete this room by the weekend, just by working 15 minutes a day. Next week we will start working on the bathrooms.

My dining room is tiny, shares the same space with my laundry room, and is directly connected to my kitchen. I have an extreme love/hate relationship with this area of my home. I love it because it's easy to maintain and clean and it's perfect for our family of two, and I hate it because it's tiny and only fits a small table with 4 chairs, which makes it difficult for me to have large groups over for company. So if you come over to eat dinner here, plan on eating in the living room ;)

Travel Blog ~ McCall, ID // Winter Vacation 2016

Saturday, January 23, 2016

Last week my father-in-law rented a big, beautiful cabin In McCall, ID. Thirteen of us ended up going up and staying a few nights. We enjoyed watching the snow fall, soaking at a local hot springs, tubing, playing games and pool, flying helicopters, going on walks, taking photos, eating tons of yummy food, and getting some R&R. While we were up there it snowed over 6 inches, and that was on top of the 48 that was already up there! It was so beautiful, I could just sit and watch the snow fall all day.

Photography Sneak Peek ~ Amy's Winter Photoshoot

Tuesday, January 19, 2016

I spent five glorious days in McCall, ID. There was 48 inches of snow on the ground when we got to the cabin on Wednesday and when we left on Sunday there was another 6 inches on top of that, it snowed almost non-stop. It was such a fun weekend spent with family and friends.

My good friend Amy, blog owner at Brightly Done Design, came up with her husband and they stayed the weekend with us too. While we were there, Amy decided that she wanted a few new headshots for her blog, so I had the privilege of photographing her! This was such a fun photoshoot! It was dumping snow, we were laughing, and it was so beautiful. I think we got some pretty great shots...

2016 Clean Home & Organizing Challenge Week 3 ~ Clean Kitchen

Monday, January 18, 2016

WooHoo! This is the last week we'll spend cleaning in the kitchen! We're almost done! How's everyone doing? Is the 15 minutes a day working out for you? After the last couple weeks everything should be decluttered and clean which means maintaining your sparkling kitchen should be easier to do :)

If you're just joining in, please read last week post here, where we focused on the first half of cleaning. You can very easily catch up if you want to. Fifteen minutes a day is pretty manageable and when you set a timer and put a little "pressure" on yourself, you can get a lot done! We're still using #2016HowJenDoesItChallenge on Instagram, if you want to see every ones progress.

This week she's challenging everyone to work just 15 minutes a day to get the rest of the kitchen clean by the weekend. You can check out this weeks video from Jen, from HowJenDoesIt, here. For the next several weeks there will be a new challenge for different areas of the home. This seems extremely doable. We can do it!!

2016 Clean & Organized Home Week 2 ~ Clean Kitchen

Monday, January 11, 2016

How did everyone do last week with the 15 minutes a day of decluttering? I finished decluttering and my kitchen already feels so much better! It's crazy what a difference just 15 minutes will make. I got rid of several things, mostly outdated food from my pantry, and some dishes I really didn't use anymore.

If you're just joining in, please read last week post here, where we focused on decluttering. You can very easily catch up if you want to. Fifteen minutes a day is pretty manageable and when you set a timer and put a little "pressure" on yourself, you can get a lot done! We're still using #2016HowJenDoesItChallenge on Instagram, if you want to see every ones progress.

Photography Sneak Peek ~ Victoria Ann 3 Months

Saturday, January 9, 2016

Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of. Pink and purple, frills and lace, this baby girl has a sweet little face...I was lucky enough to get to photograph another beautiful baby this week! Victoria Ann is 3 months old and such a cute & happy girl! Her big beautiful blue eyes just melted my heart :)

I enjoyed spending the afternoon with her and her mama, and believe or not, Victoria actually said 'mama' several times throughout the day! She's sweet, smart, and so very loved.

I especially loved that Victoria's mama wanted to incorporate a couple special hand made blankets into the photos. They were stunning and such beautiful keepsakes.

Here's another little dose of adorable sweetness to brighten up your day :)

Today little miss Corra Jaye is 3 months old! Where does the time go? She was an absolute angel for her session, she was all smiles and was such a happy girl :) I really enjoyed spending the day with her and her mama, Hannah.

2016 Clean & Organized Home Week 1 ~ Declutter Kitchen

Monday, January 4, 2016

I am soooooo ready to start checking things off on my to do list and to have my house back in order after the holidays!
2016 Planner from Target
I decided to follow this Clean and Organized Home Challenge video from HowJenDoesIt. This came at the perfect time! I really enjoy watching her YouTube channel, but I know that I am a little weird, not every likes to watch cleaning, organizing, cooking and decorating videos like I do ;) She's also using this hashtag, #2016HowJenDoesItChallenge on Instagram, if you want to see everyone's progress.

I am planning on following along and getting my house nice and tidy. She's challenging everyone to work just 15 minutes a day, breaking it up into a manageable sections, to get the entire kitchen decluttered by the weekend. For the next several weeks there will be a new challenge. This seems extremely do-able.

10 Resolutions That You Might Actually Keep

Friday, January 1, 2016

First of all, let me start by wishing you all a very Happy New Year!! It's a fresh start to a new year, a time for new beginnings, bettering yourself, and reflecting on what you'd like this year to be like. And if you're anything like me, you've probably broke at least one of your new year resolutions already...and it's day one. Yikes...

I am terrible when it comes to resolutions. Terrible. I have great intentions, but my follow through could use a whole bunch some work. Raise your hand if you make a list of things to accomplish, do great for a little while, then end up loosing the list, forgetting about all the great and wonderful things you planned to do, and then later, and I mean months later, finding that sad list with maybe one thing that can be crossed off...*raises hand*

This year I plan to do something a little different. My resolutions are going to be a little more meaningful. I always get a little bummed when I look back at my past lists and think of everything I didn't do, and everything I didn't stick with. Life is too short to feel bad about yourself. I am hoping I will be able to keep this list a lot easier.

So how about making resolutions that will benefit yourself and others? Resolutions that you might actually keep.
