Spring is here and I have been hoping and praying that the weather is going to cooperate and start warming up and staying that way. We had a freak snowstorm last Sunday and we ended up with a little over 3 inches at our house. Thank goodness I hadn't planted my little garden yet, I waited and did it today actually, yay!
Since there have been some warm days around here lately, I have been dying to get outside and start working. I've got that spring fever!
This week we're going to go outdoors and get our hands dirty. Washing the house and patios off, pulling weeds, and washing windows. Everyone's favorite things to do, right? Right? Anyone? Okay so maybe just me haha!
Week 13: Outdoors
Working outside isn't everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it is something I really enjoy. I think that it's the instant gratification, you can take something messy and in just a few hours make it really look great!
I started with pulling the weeds around our house. Thank goodness we have a tiny lot now with very low maintenance landscaping. It is so much easier than our old place that was much larger and had much more to take care of. I am totally okay with have more house and less yard.
And I know that a lot of you have large yards, even acres to care for, so just start small. Just clean up whats directly around the foundation of your house. Anything that that can be seen as you walk up to your front door. It's always nice to have a clean weed free area to welcome you home.
Our whole house is surrounded by concrete and permabark, but still, somehow those stinking weeds make their way through. I decided to get a jump start on getting them pulled before we got a letter in our mailbox from our HOA telling us to get it done. I'd say there were just a few, these were the ones just in the frount yard.
Once I got everything cleaned up I spread some Casoron all over our permabark. It's the perfect thing to put down in all of our bark and around our shrubs. It doesn't kill what is already there, it just prevents weed seeds, emerging shoots, and certain existing weeds, from growing.
Next, I grabbed a hose and sprayer and washed down the exterior of our house. We have had so much construction going on around us, hello new subdivision, the house was covered in dirt and it needed a good scrubbing.
Then I sprayed off the patio and driveway. It feels so good to have all of that done! It's crazy how dirty they get.
Finally, I grabbed my step stool, bucket, and my handy-dandy Norwex cloths and washed my windows and all of my sills. I know now that I have done that, it's for sure going to rain all over my clean windows, but at least I've been able to enjoy them for a few days.*Bonus: Buy yourself some pretty flowers or plants and plant them, you deserve a little treat after all that hard work.
Thank you for following along, I hope you have a sweet and happy day!
I bet it looks great!
