A few weeks ago we decided to take our new car on a road trip and we ended up at Cannon Beach! It's about 8 hours from where we live so it's not too long of a trip. And I don't know what's better than driving with the top down, 75 mph, while blasting 90's music headed towards the ocean, with your best friend.
We left Friday night after Alan got home from work. We ended up driving a for a few hours and stayed the night Hermiston, Oregon. The perks of having convertible, endless unobstructed views, and picture-perfect sunsets.
The next morning we woke up bright and early and headed west towards the coast. I always love this beautiful view of Mt. Hood as we drive through The Dalles.Road trip selfie! Oh btw, I DO have clothes on, strapless rompers just make it seem like I don't lol!
A few hours later we made it! We stayed at Tolovana Inn, in Cannon Beach Oregon. We actually stayed at this resort when we got married 14 years ago, and since it had been 14 years since Alan had been to the coast in the summertime, I thought it was the perfect place.
Here is the view from our balcony. We were lucky to get it! We planned this getaway last minute and they had ONE ocean view room available and I grabbed it.
As soon as we got our bags up to the room and the cooler unpacked, we ran as fast as we could squealing the whole way went down to the beach to get our toes in the sand and play in the water. It is always the first thing I do, no matter the weather, time of day, or what else is going on. I'm a mermaid, for reals.
It's just so beautiful <3 This is my happy place <3
We took a little food break and stopped by Pelican Brewing for Alan's favorite meal. According to him, their tri-tip is the best food he's ever had! When we were here in February, he ate there twice and has been talking about it ever since. We've actually been to all three locations, Tillamook, Cannon Beach, and the original location, Pacific City, and all are amazing.
We walked around downtown, stopped by Bruce's Candy Kitchen for cotton candy and saltwater taffy. We did a little shopping and sightseeing, and people watching :)
The hydrangeas were in full bloom and my heart went pitter-patter every time I saw them. Seriously, this alone makes me want to move to the Oregon Coast. The flowers are just gorgeous over there <3
After swooning, I ran back up to our room to put on my bathing suit and grab some snacks. The rest of the afternoon we enjoyed soaking up the sun.We had a beautiful, sun-shiny day, and the sunset was the perfect way to end it. We watched it from our balcony from our room.
We woke up early and took a nice little stroll on the beach before it was swarmed with people. It was sunny, warm, and not even a slightly breezy. Perfect.
We took our time, took some pictures, and soaked up the last the few minutes of Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock. I really didn't want to leave.
Happy (almost) 14 years to us. We were married on this beach, in this spot. This will forever be one of my most favorite places <3
We usually stop by Multnomah Falls on our way back home but it was closed due to some forest fires in that area. So instead we got off the beaten path and made a stop at Bridal Veil Falls off the Historic Columbia River Scenic Highway near mile marker 28.We hiked through the forest and across a pretty stream to see the beautiful 120' falls. We took the lower hiking trail that was about 1 mile long, and super steep. It's definitely obvious why it's named Bridal Veil Falls. The elegant cascading water resmebles a veil, draping down the back of a bride.
We had such a fun getaway and enjoyed every minute of it. The weather was perfect, the car ride was a blast, and the memories we made will last forever <3
Thank you so much for following us on our adventures! Have a sweet and beautiful day <3
