I did not come up with this recipe, I'm sure it's been around a long time, but either way it is so easy and fun to make, especially with kids. What is it about the taste of snow that makes you feel like a kid again? Now I don't eat snow on the regular. In fact I haven't eaten it in years, but when your niece looks at you with big bright shining eyes asking you "do you want to eat Snow Ice-cream Auntie?" You eat Snow Ice-cream! And it tastes like your childhood...
...maybe just a little bit better too.
To make this sweet treat it only takes 5 ingredients, and as long as you have snow, you should have everything else. Milk, sugar, vanilla, salt, and the most important, fresh, clean, fluffy white snow. And yes it should be fresh, clean, fluffy and white, you don't want any of that old, dirty, crunchy, or yellow snow lol. Gag!
This is the perfect little treat for little helpers in the kitchen. That's probably another reason kids love this so much, it's because they can help make it!
- Grab a large mixing bowl, metal if you have it, and mix together 1 cup of milk, 1/3 cup of white granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Next go outside and get 8 cups of snow. It's easier to just fill up another bowl with snow and then measure the 8 cups into the liquid mixture.
- Stir everything together until it's combined and serve immediately. Store any left overs covered in the freezer, or for short term storage, covered in the refrigerator. That's where the metal bowl comes in handy.
I had mine in a sugar waffle cone with some sweet little heart sprinkles. Then I had one in a sugar waffle cone and ate in over a bowl, I totally forgot the sprinkles. Or you can just scoop some in a bowl and dig in! (this is the less messy option, take my word for it lol.)
And seriously, just that easy, you can make Snow Ice-cream, and watch smiles light up all around the room.
