Building Our Home // Landscaping

Drumroll...............................

Our house is completely finished! Whew! That feels sooo amazing to say. Well except for a fence, but that's our responsibility. The builder has done his job and finished everything on his list.

A couple weeks after we moved in, the sun finally came out, the weather cooperated, and the landscapers finished everything on the exterior of our home.
Sprinkler system, check. Sod, check. Weed barrier, check. Perma bark/gravel, check. Curbing, check. Shrubs, check. Trees, check.
It looks so nice I am so happy with the way things turned out. Now I'll just have to patently wait until things really start to bloom out to really see what it will look like.

The weather timed itself perfectly for us. A couple weeks of nice dry weather for the landscapers, and the last couple weeks have been rainy off and on for us. I'm not complaining, that makes our job of watering in all the newly planted sod and shrubs very easy.
Today is May 6th, which means we have officially been in our house for a little over two months. At times it still seems like a dream. I wake up and think, wow THIS is our house? It still smells new. And other times it feels like we've been here forever, it just feels like home. Plus, I am already finding my way around in the dark lol. You know what I'm talking about right? I'm not stumbling around looking for light switches, walking around with my arms stretched out ahead of me, or jamming my toes on the walls anymore. It's like second nature now. I am comfortable living here.

We are also 100% unpacked and that feels ah-mazing! Last month we hung shelves in the garage and unloaded the last of the boxes that was all garage stuff. I finished the inside of the house about 10 days after we moved in, but those few lingering boxes out there in the garage were driving me crazy. And it's crazy how much stuff we store in the garage! At our old house we had a shed outside that had all of our lawn tools, hoses, fertilizer etc. in it, now that all has to go in the garage. Not to mention all of our automotive supplies, totes with Christmas decorations, painting supplies, and other randomness.

I even have a pile started for a yard sale! Even though we had a huge sale right before we sold our other house, I kept things not knowing for sure what I would need in the next house we ended up in. Well, I'm in the next house and I know what I don't need now, and if you know me, I do not like to hang on to things that I don't like and aren't being used anymore.

Everything is nice, clean, and organized. There is a place for everything and everything is in its place. I just love that!

As for decorating...................
I will eventually get around to that lol. For now I am just really enjoying the crisp, clean walls. I have plenty of stuff out on my shelves, end tables, dressers, and mantel to keep me happy. I've hung a couple pictures using command strips (that took away all of my anxiety of putting holes in the walls!) The only holes I've put into my walls are two push pins that are hanging up my calendars, and two screws in the guest bathroom that are hanging up a shelf/towel hook my dad made me. The garage has a few more holes in it, but I'm ok with that, we really needed those shelves.

Oh ya!! I finally got an area rug for the living room too!
I found it online at esalerugs.com, with free shipping and free returns. Luckily for me I don't need to return it, it's perfect <3 And the price was unbeatable! I had been shopping since October, and for a 9x13 foot rug, this website had the best deals. I'm not sponsored by these guys, I just wanted to let you guys know about a great website if you're in the market for a new rug.

Thank you all for following along on this journey, it's been fun, and the adventure is just starting.
Have a sweet and wonderful day :)
